Inclusive Test Automation

Test Automation has solely been done by a separate automated testing team for a long time. The task for automation is usually taken up after all the development and manual testing is done. The automated testers are also not included in any brainstorming sessions thus their overall knowledge of the product is limited.

Once the documented test cases are automated, it tends to lack in areas that are well known to other team members. The test automation starts with small misses but in the end become huge and problematic. Although a lot seems to have been automated, still bugs seem to seep through them.

The automation then stops giving the results that were once promised and the team starts to look at automation as a costly activity.

Only Test automation cannot solve this problem. The quality of the test automation needs to be improved too. Thus, comes the need for inclusive test automation.

Inclusive test automation aims to make test automation a team activity where test creation and test reviews are not tough for non-technical members of the team.

When automated tests look and feel like simple English language with no layering of code - it becomes easy to catch any gaps earlier on. This can also lead to frequent and parallel test automation and more efficient continuous testing.

Testsigma, a unified test automation platform, is built with the focus of enabling everyone in the team to contribute to the quality of test automation. In this session, we will see how.
